01/21/06 ARU Review and Pics

My "Zambi" Jimmy photo above

Wow, what an amazing two nights of music.

Tonight the band was on complete fire. This was one of the most interesting sets of music I have ever heard, and some of the most fun! Everyone was having a great time, most of all, the musicans on stage!

It also happened to be Jimmy's 44th birthday the next day, so the band and crowd sang Happy Birthday to Jimmy, and they presented him with a cake, complete with lit candles that he blew out, during the encore.

This band should start touring, tomorrow! :-)

1/20/06 ARU Fox Theater Review and Pics:

The show last night and tonight is at The Fox Theater in Boulder. PACKED full to the rafters. It was all one, big, long, smokin' set. Jimmy was shredding the whole place down, and Bobby Lee was showing that he has the chops to keep up the "Zambi" style of play ARU has.
Sipe was a force of nature. Period. The guy is a goddamned maniac on the drums. PLF is really in for it come February!!
Oteil was, well Oteil. He was scattin' all over the place, and NEVER missed a turn in the music. Just amazing to watch a guy like this in his prime.
The Col. was The Col. in Col. form. He sang most of the songs, and Bobby Lee took a couple. He played the pedal steel on the floor of the stage, his back, his chest, chased Oteil and the guys around the stage with it...hilarious, fun, rockin music folks!

Rumor regarding new album

taken from a post at the Jimmy Herring Discussion Board at http://online-discussion.dhenderson.com/JimmyHerring/index.php in regards to what Jimmy is up to right now:

"I heard he's recording the first "Jimmy Herring" solo record right now with Rush Anderson recording/engineering/producing. Rush is Jimmy's long-time guitar tech back in the ARU days, who also made a large contribution to Jimmy's tone and cool/innovative setups. I believe they're recording at Rush's studio - Rush Hour Studios. I can't seem to find a link right now, but Rush used to have a web-site. I haven't heard anything at all about Jimmy's record, other than to expect the unexpected. And I don't mean just the zambi "out" stuff. Think some rocker tunes with vox and that sorta thing. Rumor is Jimmy will also be teaching a monthly masters guitar class at AIM, where he has formerly given seminars and I think even studied there way back in the day. "

BREAKING NEWS!!!!

photo: Jay Kurinskas 8/14/05 NYC

from the codetalkers website:

Col. Bruce & Bobby Lee to play with Aquarium Rescue Unit on January 20th & 21st
Col. Bruce is joining original members of the Aquarium Rescue Unit (Jimmy Herring, Jeff Sipe, Oteil Buridge) in two shows at Boulder's Fox Theater January 20th and 21st. Fans may recall the fast-fingered mandolin wizardry of Matt Mundy, who has not performed with the band in a number of years, and understand why the addition of Bobby Lee Rodgers to the shows' line-up is a natural choice. Bobby Lee will be playing his electric banjo during these shows, so Codetalkers fans who have missed hearing him play it recently should add this to their list of reasons to make the trip to Colorado.

See y'all there!

More Hard Rock shots from Halloween in Vegas

Jimmy at The Hard Rock ripping it up!

PLF The Joint 10/31/05

These are shots I took on 10/30-10/31/05 Phil Lesh and Friends at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

This was an epic 5 hour show, which let out in time to see the sunrise over the Veags strip.
